OUR MISSION

OUR SERVICES

We Deliver Emergency Firewood

The Upper Valley Wood & Food Bank collects, stores and delivers firewood on an emergency basis to people who need it desperately during the winter months. As we know, in Vermont, many people depend on wood to heat their home. We are often contacted when

someone is almost out of wood, and we try to make a delivery to them within 24 hours.

We Support Local Food Shelves

In partnership with Black River Produce, the Upper Valley Wood & Food Bank supports the Reading/West Windsor Food Shelf, the Red Door Food Shelf in South Royalton, and the Lamoille Community Food Share with deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables. Last year, this program was able to deliver approximately $1,000 of fresh fruit and vegetables per month. We welcome donations to help continue and expand this program.

OUR STORY

Response to COVID-19

During the coronavirus pandemic, we increased our deliveries to local food shelves to help support the community during this crisis. Thousands of people lost their jobs during the pandemic, and many people could not afford basic necessities.

Your donations and support are greatly appreciated. 100% of donations go to

support the supply of fresh produce and emergency firewood to families around Vermont.

Thank you for your support!

OUR STORY

The Upper Valley Wood & Food Bank was founded to help those who can't afford to heat their homes in the winter by making deliveries of free firewood on an emergency basis. Every year, we work hard to keep individuals and families in the Upper Valley warm and safe during the cold winter months.

Based in Woodstock, the Upper Valley Wood & Food Bank, Inc. is a Vermont domestic non-profit corporation. The organization is managed by Thalia Ferro, whose grandfather, Nicholas Ferro, and uncle, Bryan Ferro, started the effort in the early 1990s. Since 2017, the Upper Valley Wood & Food Bank has expanded its outreach and started partnering with local food shelves to provide fresh food deliveries to support the local community.

We look forward to maintaining and growing the organization's capabilities and greatly appreciate the support we have received to help those most in need in our communities. We are very grateful for the ongoing support of our volunteers including Shannon and Gerry Murphy, Change the World Kids, Nicholas Ferro, and Thomas Ferro.
